Sit Down & Think

I don't know what the real purpose of this is.  Part is for the betterment of my Patients, so they have an understanding of some of the processes that I go through in forming my professional opinion.  Part of it is for the education of both Patients and who ever else wishes to read this.

I think this may be a useful medium to add some more information that is already out there in cyberspace.  Often I come up with crazy ideas, but I come up with so many of them, that I suppose I should document them.  If it is not documented it is not done.

So lets start.  It has been about 2 or 3 months since 2 key memebers of my staff have decided to go on a new adventure in life.  One halfway around the world.  The other found a new adventure in a brand new, purpose built pharmacy.  I understand an commend them for taking the new challenge in life, and know that they will do just fine.

However, for the last 2-3 months (also being Winter in Pharmacy - which is traditionally always a busier time of the year) I have been involved more in the day to day of keeping the Pharmacy going rather than sitting down and thinking.  So today, I must say is the first day where I have been able to sit down and think productively about the Pharmacy, my team, and my patients and how I can serve each of them better.

I have been reading so much about how we as health care professionals should be engaging our patients more.  Engaging them through social media, engaging them through Twitter, engaing them through SMS, MMS, email, online, radio, Television, catalouges, mail outs everything.

My fear has always been that I am not technosavy, so all these different mediums require me to learn a new method...all these computer techno people should make a universal link, that just put it in one place and it goes to all places.  That fear has stopped me from doing anything.

So today, I decided to make a move.  I posted something up on the Pharmacy Facebook site.  Surprise surprise, I found it reasonalbly easy to do.  Then I found an app that can post from a blog to facebook....times are a changin!

So here we sit now...stay tunned...
